WINNINGTON Park Bowmen followed up recent successes with more achievements in another virtual event.

Leigh Hadfield and William Oliver led the way for the Moss Farm club in the Northern Counties Virtual Archery competition.

The archers submitted their best score from a weekend of shooting at Moss Farm and then their tallies went into the reckoning alongside more than 300 entrants from clubs across the north of England who had also shot at their local base.

Seven Winnington Park archers competed across three different bow styles, with each style having a specific distance and target face for the archer to compete at.

They were:

Men’s recurve 70m – Leigh Hadfield and Andrew Oliver

Junior men’s recurve 50m – William Oliver

Women’s recurve 70m – Amanda Rose

Men’s longbow 50m – Ian Garton

Men’s compound 50m (80cm target) – Barry Starnes & John Wesley

High placings and personal bests were achieved by the company of Park archers.

Hadfield finished second in a large, experienced field of archers, with only a few points between him and first place.

His placing comes on the back of a string of personal bests and club records achieved over the past few weeks.

William Oliver, who has also been breaking club records and smashing PBs from last season after improving his form, claimed a commendable fifth place in the NCAS event.
