NINE-year-old Jude Edwards from Holmes Chapel has raised £940 by climbing Mount Snowdon for the charity Little Troopers.

Jude completed the challenge with his dad Barry. The pair were due to take part in the trek in May, but the climb was cancelled due to lockdown.

To train for the event Jude started by walking Ullswater Way before scrambling up Scafell Pike in August. He is now hoping to continue his mountainous adventures by climbing Ben Nevis in spring next year.

Little Troopers has been supported by many fundraisers this month, people either climbing Mount Snowdon in person or completing virtual challenges at home to raise money for the charity, and Jude is the youngest to have completed the Snowdon trek challenge.

Jude said: “I was really nervous before the challenge, but I’m so proud I did it and that I’ve been able to raise lots of money for a wonderful charity.”

Jude's fundraising total tops £1,100 when Gift Aid is included.

Louise Fetigan, the founder of Little Troopers, said: “Climbing Mount Snowdon is not an easy task for anyone, so the fact that Jude completed the climb with a big smile on his face is amazing.

“We want to thank him so much for choosing our charity and we think he is a very special Little Trooper.”

Little Troopers was founded in 2011 to support service children who have a parent serving in the British Armed Forces, regular or reserve.
