MORE than 80 Northwich businesses have signed up to take part in a town discount card scheme – and it is now even cheaper for residents to take advantage.

Cafes, boutiques and hairdressers are all among the independent firms that have joined the Wichcard scheme.

With so many businesses on board, the Wichcard team have decided to halve the price from £40 to £20.

And Guardian readers can get the Wichcard for an even cheaper price with an exclusive 10 per cent discount.

Ryan Williams, co-founder of Wichcard, said: "The response from businesses has been great.

"Now we want to get card sales up as much as possible so those businesses are seeing the benefit."

Ryan and fellow founder Dave Cross, who both live in Northwich, decided to set up the scheme in lockdown as a way to boost the town's businesses.

More than 100 Wichcards have been sold so far, with the biggest discount on offer being 50 per cent, and the biggest single saving made so far being £110 in one transaction.

Cards and offers are valid until July 31, 2021.
