AS the coronavirus pandemic continues, a gym in Stockton Heath is striving to help tackle obesity.

Gyms and leisure centres took a huge hit earlier this year when they were forced to close, meaning many fitness classes had to move online.

One such establishment is Immortal Fitness Studios, and owner Luis Entwistle explained how the industry has had to change to survive.

“I was trying to keep people active and motivated with online classes but I was struggling to keep motivated myself - it’s hard working from home,” Luis said.

“Now back in the studio we had to seriously change our business model because of sanitising and contact touch points.”

Warrington Guardian:

As obesity-related conditions seem to worsen the effects of Covid-19, Immortal Fitness want to give away a week’s free personal training for anyone whose weight is having a negative impact on their health.

“I think there’s a sense of importance in getting fit and healthy now and it’s been a big wake up call for a lot of people,” Luis added.

“We’re going above and beyond for safety measures to try and give people some confidence and help them increase their fitness.”

A recent client joined Immortal one month before lockdown and had to adapt to online classes.

She said: “At times I really struggled to deal with lockdown life; it was extremely tempting to give up and eat everything in the kitchen!

“I am very grateful that Luis helped to keep me motivated and on track during those difficult months.

“I can’t believe that I have now lost over five-and-a-half stone in eight months.

“My whole outlook has changed and I am so much happier and more confident.”
