THE number of recorded coronavirus cases in Brighton and Hove increased by nine over 24 hours, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 1,009 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Friday (September 18) in Brighton and Hove, up from 1,000 the same time on Thursday.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government’s mass testing programme.
The rate of infection in Brighton and Hove now stands at 347 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 592.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 4,322 over the period, to 385,936.
The number of recorded coronavirus cases in West Sussex increased by 15 to 3,259.
The number of recorded cases in East Sussex increased by seven to 1,874 .
One new coronavirus death has been recorded at Western Sussex Hospitals Trust , which runs St Richard’s Hospital, Southlands Hospital and Worthing Hospital · .
