A FESTIVAL in a day featuring Bez from Happy Mondays has been announced for Northwich next summer.

The event, which is being organised to support local charity Tiny Steps, will also feature a DJ set from Clint Boon and will take place at Northwich Memorial Court on Saturday, June 19 2021.

Scott Burstow, organiser of the 'TinyFest' and board member of the charity, which supports children with special needs and their families, said it will be a day of musical acts.

He said: "There will be some local talent and some more established and well known acts, with the aim to bring some invaluable awareness and funds for Tiny Steps.

"I'm starting something that I hope will become an annual event and evolve and grow, and give something for the people of Northwich to look forward to after this summer."

Scott has already organised a double event to mark the charity's sixth birthday, which will take place on Saturday, October 3, with the former Inspiral Carpets keyboardist Boon again set to feature with a DJ set at Salty Dog in the town's High Street.

Scott went on: "Clint Boon is a massive supporter for Tiny Steps and took on the role of patron for Tiny Steps earlier this year and is joined by Happy Mondays, Bez.

"Bez did a night for us at the Salty Dog earlier this year and was brilliant – you could just tell he wanted to support us and really wanted to help out again in any way so it felt right to ask him back for a second night.

"Salty Dog will host the other acts on the day and I’m hopeful to start early afternoon and maybe 3 or 4 other acts to announce – I have a few lined up so expect news in the coming weeks."

Like many charities around the country, lockdown has had a massive impact on the fundraising endeavours of Tiny Steps, but Scott says the charity has done 'brilliantly'.

He said: "Its been a tough time for Tiny Steps as every charity during this period however they have done brilliantly in keeping the families in communication and involved with each other during lock down and as the Stay and Play sessions have started again in some capacity, its massively helping with the need for social and stimulation for the children."
