RESIDENTS in Winsford are invited to join a network of community champions to help keep their neighbours safe in the pandemic.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is looking for residents to share important information and advice about Covid-19 with others in their community, and to report any feedback they have.

Cllr Louise Gittins, CWAC leader, said: "The way our communities have come together over the last couple of months has been truly inspiring.

"There is a lot of goodwill in our communities and people want to play their part wherever they can.

"We’re bringing together a network of community champions because there are people out there who have expert knowledge about their local community and can help get the latest information and advice out to those who need to hear it."

Anyone who has strong links with their local community could take part, including volunteers, organisations and businesses.

The community champions will pass crucial information on to anyone who needs it in their area, including during an outbreak of coronavirus, to help avoid local lockdowns.

Cllr Gittins added: "The only way we’re going to continue to beat this virus is by working together and this will encourage community champions to keep in touch with the council, letting us know whether there is anything we should be looking at in their local community.

"Having community champions will help us manage our ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic effectively."

Community champions will also be able to get in touch with dedicated council teams should they think improvements could be made in their area.
