A NEW restaurant was pavement seating is set to open in a former greengrocers in the town centre.
The licensed eatery with a retractable canopy will open on the ground floor of the unit formerly occupied by Rigby’s Finest Fresh Foods on Sankey Street, under an application for planning permission submitted to Warrington Borough Council.
It will be able to cater for up to 44 diners inside, with a further eight covers outside.
Rigby’s was first established in 1952 but moved from Warrington Market into its own premises in summer 2017.
The new venture boasted a traditional offering of fruit, vegetables and flowers as well as wines, barista coffees, fresh takeaway foods, a gourmet delicatessen and a cheese counter.
But it shut in February the following year, with the large former Topshop site having since been split into smaller units.
