LOCKDOWN hasn’t stopped Knutsford’s scouting community from earning awards and badges and it’s all thanks to their creative leaders.

From camp at home challenges to virtual meetings Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers have been able to carry on scouting online, despite being unable to enjoy many of their usual activities.

Virtual meetings have meant members have still been able to see their friends, and a district wide competition camp created a sense of teamwork within the groups.

Many of the young members have been able to work towards awards and lots of badges have been awarded, while leaders have completed their training with emphasis on safety and the policies of the Scout Association.

Tony Leadbeater, president of Knutsford District Scouts said: “We’ve seen lots of our members take part in camp at home challenges, pitching tents or building dens in their gardens and cooking over campfires

“The feedbacks from parents have all been very positive and they appreciate the organisation and hard work put in by the leaders.

“Knutsford and Mobberley are fortunate to have a district commissioner and a team of enthusiastic leaders and helpers who have ensured wherever possible scouting has prevailed through these difficult times.

“I think they all need a round of applause for the hard work and dedication they have shown during this period. It is hoped face to face scouting is not too far away and together with the completion of the new scout headquarters on The Moor there is plenty to look forward to.”
