A CARER was attacked by two passers-by as he attempted to deal with a distressed patient.
Police have released CCTV images following the incident, which took place in Cunningham Place in Bournemouth.
At around 7.15pm on Saturday July 11 a male care worker aged in his 40s was out for a walk with other care workers and a patient. The patient became distressed and began to struggle with the carers.
Two men who were in the area came to assist the patient and the carers explained to the men that they were looking after the person.
Despite this, an altercation occurred and the victim was struck on the head, causing a small bump to his forehead. His mobile phone was also damaged during the incident.
Police Constable Alison Roberts, of Bournemouth police, said: “I have been carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“As part of my enquiries I have obtained images of two men I would to speak to. I would ask anyone who recognises them to please get in touch as soon as possible.”
