AFTER a promising breakthrough season, Northwich footballer Rio Adebisi has been rewarded with a new contract by Crewe Alexandra.

The 19-year-old left back – a former St Nicholas Catholic High School student – has penned a new two-year deal with the newly-promoted League One side.

It means Adebisi, who started his career with Barnton Juniors, will remain at Gresty Road until the summer of 2022.

Adebisi made five appearances in the Alex first team last season after making his debut against Premier League outfit Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

With his future now secure, manager Dave Artell believes he can go on to great things.

“Rio has signed a new two-year deal and he has a good chance of becoming a really good player,” he told the club’s official website.

“He had a taste of things last season, playing about four or five games and of course he made his debut against Aston Villa and did ever so well.

“We are delighted that he has committed his future here for another two years at least and if everything goes according to plan then he has a bright future in the game.”
