THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust did not report any additional deaths of patients testing positive for coronavirus over the weekend.

NHS England data shows that, as of 5pm yesterday (July 26), the total number of deaths registered by the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – remained at 227.

It means the Countess has not reported any additional deaths in ten of the last eleven days.

The last death occurred on July 18.

The Cheshire hospital death toll stands at 721 with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recording 213, East Cheshire NHS Trust 145, and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 136.

As of 3.59pm yesterday, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Cheshire West and Chester stood at 2,026.

Across England, the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals stands at to 29,281.
