A FORMER town centre church could be turned into flats.
Plans have been submitted to convert the former Hope Church on Crosfield Street which has been empty since 2014.
Developers say they will put five flats into the building.
Back in 2018 Warrington Borough Council turned down plans to turn the church into eight flats.
It comes after a similar scheme for 10 apartments in the building, dating back to 1891 and located opposite Bank Park, was refused earlier that same year.
Concerns over parking were behind the decisions.
Now a scaled-down version of the scheme has been announced.
Planning documents state: "We consider that the proposed conversion of the former Church into five-sympathetically designed flats would result in the retention of this attractive building, which is important to the Bank Park surrounding area which should be retained through a beneficial alternative use.
"The Crosfield Street area of Warrington particularly the church site will benefit from the proposed development as it has been unused since 2014."
