Restaurants across Warrington are diversifying their offerings to boost business during the coronavirus pandemic, ranging from outdoor dining to providing groceries.

Among them is Lymm’s renowned French restaurant, La Boheme, whose fine dining takeaway service has become the go-to choice for residents looking to celebrate special occasions from the comfort of their own home.

One such couple are Jon and Karen Morley, who recently treated themselves to La Boheme’s culinary delights for Karen’s 40th birthday at the beginning of July.

With a second helping on the cards for their wedding anniversary later this month, we caught up with them to find out what makes La Boheme so special.

How long have you been customers of La Boheme?

We first visited La Boheme a decade ago on Karen’s 30th birthday and it’s been a firm favourite ever since. We return for at least one of our birthdays every year, as well as for wedding anniversaries, Christmas celebrations and thank you meals to parents – to name but a few!

What do you love about eating there?

We love the variety of dishes on both the menu and the specials.

Whenever we have a night away from our girls (who are ten and three years old), we nearly always come back to La Boheme, over any of the best restaurants in the area, as we could literally eat every dish on the menu! The staff are so friendly and welcoming too, we’ve had great service every time.

What are your favourite dishes?

It’s difficult as we love everything on the menu. If pushed, we’d have to say the Scallops starter [Coquille St Jacques] and Venison [Chevreuil à La Poire Et Vinaigre De Balsamique], when it’s in season.

Warrington Guardian:

What made you choose La Boheme’s takeaway service for Karen’s birthday?

We wanted a really special meal to celebrate and after looking at all the options available, we knew La Boheme was the only decision for us. The food was absolutely beautiful and tasted just like we were in the restaurant.

What did you order?

To start, we had the French Onion Soup [Soupe L’Oignon] and Seafood Gratin [Gratin De Fruit De Mer] followed by the chicken [Suprême De Poulet] and braised lamb shoulder [Feuillete D’Agneau]. We shared the delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert.

How much have you missed going out during the lockdown?

It’s been challenging but we appreciate everyone is in the same situation. We really feel for the people who’ve been affected worse than us, such as the restaurants and bars. We’ve been making the most of the takeaway services on offer and are looking forward to celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary at the end of July.

Warrington Guardian:

We’ve got our eye on a few of their other dishes this time, including the haddock starter [Le Fameux Beignet D’Haddock Aux Deux Saveurs] and the duck main [Confit De Canard De Valbonne].

It would be rude not to share another sticky toffee pudding again to.

When not fine dining, what do you like to do in your spare time?

We love to go on days out and long walks with our two girls, Maisie and Isabella, and our Double Doodle dog called Ken.

La Boheme’s takeaway menu is available Tuesday to Sunday and can be ordered via their website, laboheme.co.uk.
