FOR many, the coronavirus lockdown has been a time for families to come together and spend some quality time with each other.
But for those living alone or with family members living far away, the lockdown has brought on feelings of sadness and loneliness.
To combat this, Cuddington Parish Council has installed ‘happy to chat’ signs on benches around the village.
The idea is that people will have the chance to say hello and have a chat with passers-by, as you never know how much a simple chat will be appreciated.
“The benches offer passers-by an opportunity to unwind and say hello,” said parish council clerk Julie Chrimes.
“For some residents, sitting down here may be the only conversation they have all week.
“The council hopes that the chat benches will become an integral part of the village, where people who were previously lonely can meet friendly faces and feel part of the community again.”
