A RADCLIFFE man caught with an illegal fighting blade has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Stuart Harold Joseph Fagan, 29, was prosecuted after being found in possession of an imported push dagger knife.
Under UK law the push dagger, a short knife gripped between the knuckles in combat, which dates back to 16th century India, is against the law.
Fagan, of Jubilee Avenue, pleaded guilty before Manchester magistrates to importing a prohibited weapon.
He was given a 26-week custodial sentence, suspended for 24 months, given the serious nature of the offence.
Fagan was also ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge with £85 court costs.
