A TAKEAWAY in Northwich is giving back to the community after being bowled over by support during the pandemic.

After Five Chinese, in Station Road, has been busy feeding customers looking for a tasty lockdown treat.

And as a thank-you to the town, it decided to begin running competitions to support the most vulnerable in our community.

Its first charity raffle raised £100 for Mid Cheshire Foodbank, with After Five adding another £50 to the total, as one lucky winner bagged a £30 voucher.

Owner Andrew Chiu said: "We have been really busy in lockdown, running competitions to give away vouchers, and we wanted to do something to help the community.

"This is just the first competition we have done to do that and we are hoping to do more."

Business has been booming at After Five Chinese thanks to a big push on social media during lockdown and a popular range of gluten free dishes.

Andrew, who has worked in the industry for 30 years, was previously looking after things behind the scenes but has returned to the kitchen following the rise in demand.

"I have been busy making sure all the food is as fresh and as good as possible," he said.

"On social media we have been able to show people how our kitchen is run, how clean it is and how the dishes are prepared.

"Our gluten free meals have really taken off too. It can be difficult to get good meals as a coeliac and people have responded well to us."
