Copeland residents might be contacted by email and text messaging to check that their voter registration details are up-to-date.
The council has started its electoral canvass, where every household will be contacted to ensure the details held are correct and eligible residents are included on the register in order to vote in upcoming elections.
This year, as part of the Government’s canvass reform programme, the council will be using data and electronic communication, such as email and text messaging, to simplify the process. So residents might receive an email, text message or letter from Copeland Council, asking them to check on those registered and inform the council of any changes.
Despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, the canvass must take place by law. Residents are asked to ensure they respond online, by telephone or text message whenever possible.
