A COMMUNITY sports club has used lockdown to transform its beer garden – to spectacular effect.

Haresfinch Rugby and Community club may have seen a lack of action on the pitch during the coronavirus restrictions and missed its regulars who enjoy a pint or two .

But they have used the time off to create some lasting art work in the venue's beer garden.

Husband and wife team, Janet and Andy Jones, designed and painted the beer garden tables to represent some of the club's activities such as rugby, jujitsu and American football team, The Cardinals.

They also painted tables as a tribute to our servicemen and women to mark VE Day, our NHS staff and our lorry drivers, who have kept the country going during the pandemic.

Other volunteers and committee members also repainted the lounge and outside areas ready to welcome loyal regulars back to the heart of 'Finch' when it reopens.

All the work was completed using social distancing and on staggered days.

A club spokesperson said: "Doing this during lockdown has kept us busy and we hope to see plenty of visitors to our beer garden when lockdown restrictions are over.
