ROLLERCOASTER fans will finally be able to get their thrill fix next week.

Alton Towers Resort has revealed it will be reopening its gates for some much-needed family fun from Saturday, July 4.

This follows the Government’s latest relaxation of coronavirus restrictions as announced by Prime Minister in the House of Commons today, Tuesday.

The theme park will reopen the majority of its outdoor rides and attractions, although there will be restrictions on the number of guests able to visit the theme park each day.

Alton Towers says that this is to ensure that visitors can have the best possible experience and social distancing can be maintained.

A full overview of the range of safety and hygiene measures will be implemented ahead of reopening, including enhanced cleaning routines and the hygiene stations being set up.

All guests will be required to pre-book tickets online in advance of their visit to enable capacity control, and to be safely admitted into the resort, employees and guests will be asked to participate in a temperature checks using a non-touch thermometer.

Guests over the age of six will be asked to wear face coverings or masks on some rides and rollercoasters, while social distancing markings will be set up around the park.

Emma Catterall, divisional director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “It is fantastic that we can now confirm that our theme park and accommodation will reopen from July 4.

“We can’t wait to get back to doing what we do best, and we’re working hard to make sure that we’re implementing the new hygiene and distancing measures in a way that will still allow our guests to enjoy a memorable and fun visit to Alton Towers Resort.”

The resort’s hotels and accommodation with also reopen from July 4 with a reduced capacity.
