DEDICATED staff at Lostock Lodge Care Home have helped to ensure that the dreams of two special residents became reality.

As part of the Lostock Gralam care home’s Make a Wish initiative, residents were given the opportunity to tell staff about something they would like to do in their wildest dreams.

This could include visiting a magical place or enjoying a special activity, with staff then doing their upmost to make that dream become a reality in some form.

One resident, Joan Keyes, was very clear what her ultimate wish was.

“Joan is completely obsessed with George Clooney,” explained customer relations manager Nina Rogers.

“She talks about him all the time, and when she initially said her wish was to meet him, we wondered how on earth we could do this.

“With a bit of creativity, we were able to make it happen for her.”

Northwich Guardian:

The care home team arranged a surprise tea party for Joan and her friends, complete with cut out George Clooney figure and the paparazzi.

The ladies enjoyed a champagne afternoon tea served by a very smart waiter and the private dining room was decorated as a special VIP area for the day.

Joan was over the moon, grinning from ear to ear, and said: “This was the best day ever. Thank you so so much, but can I keep him?”

As well as a wonderful tea party, Joan even had a waltz around the room with her very dashing waiter.

On seeing the photos on Facebook, her granddaughter Sarah commented: “Amazing. Thank you so much for making by grandma so happy.”

Care home staff also made resident Mark Graham’s 60th birthday extra special by presenting him with a signed book from his sporting hero – Manchester United legend Sammy McIlroy.

Northwich Guardian:

Mark is a huge lifelong fan of the club and has his bedroom decked out with all the memorabilia he can find.

So he was delighted to receive a signed card and notebook from Manchester United for his special birthday and was over the moon with his gifts.

Mark’s family commented: “The wonderful Lostock Lodge staff Nina and Stefan made Mark’s special birthday really memorable.

“Thanks to the chef who made a gorgeous cake too. We can’t thank everyone enough.”

The Make a Wish initiative has seen residents from Lostock Lodge and care homes across the Country Court group enjoy special outings and activities, ranging from scoring goals at Sheffield United Football Club to off-road driving and lots of family tea parties.
