A FUN-FILLED Summer of Love campaign is being launched for St Luke's Hospice.

Action-packed events are encouraging families to enjoy themselves whilst raising funds for vital patient care.

Angela Slack, head of community fundraising for St Luke’s Hospice, said: “We are busy planning lots of fundraising fun for all ages to get involved with from the comfort of your own homes and gardens, all with the aim of spreading a little happiness and love.

“So grab your sunglasses, fitbits at the ready, dig your old tent out of the shed, get those knitting needles clicking and get ready to breeze into summer with us.”

A bingo is being held on Wednesday, June 17 from 7pm on the hospice Facebook page.

Players can join in from the comfort of their own homes with a live caller, a host of fabulous prizes and a raffle. Entry is £8 per player.

Families are encouraged to take part in a summer sleepout on Saturday, June 20 by either pitching a tent in their garden or making a den in their house. Angela said: “We thought we would bring the fun and adventure of a camping holiday to everyone’s homes. So dig out your tent and pitch it in your garden, or get creative with some poles and sheets to make a tepee and join us for St Luke’s summer sleepout."

To raise money for patient care, the hospice is inviting ‘campers’ to donate a pitch fee of £10 to St Luke’s.

The hospice's Midnight Walk is going virtual on Saturday, June 27.

Walkers are being invited to complete 12,500 steps in a day to equate to the six mile half moon walk or tackle a massive 21,000 steps to match the 10 mile full moon walk.

Walkers can complete the challenge on the night or in the week leading up to June 27. There’s still time to sign up for the event at www.slhospice.co.uk/midnightwalk.

The search is also on to find keen knitters to wrap the hospice in a Daisy Chain of Love. Knitting and crochet patterns are available to download from the hospice website.

St Luke’s is hoping supporters can knit enough daisies to stretch 300 metres around the perimeter of the hospice building.

Angela added: “Please show your love for St Luke’s this summer, we can’t wait to spend it with you.”
