THE VICS COLUMN - By Pete Tonge

STRIKER Saul Henderson has won the award for the Goal of the Season competition.

There were eight finalists being grouped into two semi-finals with the top two of each group going into a final four. Voting took place on Twitter, with the goals being available to view on the Northwich Victoria TV YouTube channel.

This is a great service run by Rob and Rich Beal with additional filming by Matt Martin and they upload highlights of every match onto the channel during the season.

This is obviously a great asset for the fans and allows them to catch up on the action for any matches they may not be able to attend.

Filming games also allows the management and coaching staff to review the matches and look at certain aspects or incidents in the game to see where it all went right or wrong!

We are lucky to have such dedicated fans as Rob and Rich who often miss out on being able to celebrate and enjoy the football as they concentrate on filming the action.

Back to the Goal of the Season, the four finalists were:

Goal A) Matty Clarke v Silsden in the FA Cup, when he stole in at the far post with a brilliantly composed side footed volley after good work and cross from the left by Brandon Barski

Goal B) Saul Henderson v Barnoldswick Town in the Macron Cup, an excellent left foot strike from 22 yards into the bottom corner of the net.

Goal C) Saul Henderson v Barnoldswick Town in the league. A deft chip over the keeper after being played in by a great pass from Aaron Burns

Goal D) Brad Lynch v 1874 Northwich. A cool strike from just inside the area after a great cross field pass from Saul Henderson.

Goal C was voted the winner by our Twitter followers, and well deserved too, a great goal by our leading scorer for the season.

Saul has made a great impact since coming in from Congleton Town and has scored 15 goals in 29 appearances as well as a good number of assists. We hope to be able to present Saul with his award, if we’re ever able to hold an end-of-season do!

Why not take a look at our Northwich Victoria TV channel on YouTube and relive some of his goals as well as the trials and tribulations of last season?
