STUDENTS are disappointed after their prom at Middlewich High School has been cancelled.

Teenagers who leave school in the summer had been looking forward to dressing up in posh frocks and tuxedos to enjoy a special night out with their classmates.

Headteacher Heidi Thurland told year 11 pupils that unfortunately their end of year celebration had to be called off due to coronavirus regulations.

However it is hoped that there may be an opportunity in the future to reorganise the get together.

In a letter to students, Heidi Thurland said: "We have delayed this decision until the last possible moment but it is obvious now that

larger gatherings and hospitality are some way off being permitted.

"As a result we have taken the difficult decision that the prom will be cancelled and all monies refunded.

"We are very keen that you do at some point in the future enjoy this experience. When the time comes where that may be appropriate we will contact you and ask of this is something you still want to do.

"If it is we will set up a prom committee and look to organise this event later next year."
