TATTON Park could close if Government guidelines are not being followed, social distancing is not possible, or safe use cannot be maintained.

The warning from park bosses comes ahead of tomorrow's (Wednesday) planned reopening of the park, which has been closed since March 23.

The park's website has laid out a list of the Government guidelines, including social distancing, people are being asked to follow when visiting the park.

The website said: "Following the latest government guidance, we have been able to bring forward our plans for safely re-opening parts of Tatton Park from June 3 on.

"This initial opening phase welcomes walkers, cyclists and vehicles to the parkland only – there is no need to pre-book but we will be actively monitoring and managing the numbers of visitors every day to ensure everybody stays safe.

"If Government guidelines are not being followed, social distancing is not possible, or safe use cannot be maintained, we reserve the right to close the park or its facilities at any time.

"The latest Government guidance clarified the position on pay for entry outdoor attractions which were supposed to stay closed until July, so that people can now ‘visit gardens and land maintained for public use as an alternative open space to spend time outdoors’.

"We are therefore pleased to be able to open parts of Tatton Park to visitors from June 3 onwards. Initially this will be the Parkland only, but from June 8 we hope to open the gardens as well.

"For now, however, the Farm and Mansion remain closed. The position on these and other facilities such as shops and catering will be kept under review and respond to both Government guidance and our ability to open safely.

"These plans focus on the wellbeing of our visitors, staff, wildlife and local communities and initially mean we can give access to our Parkland with parking, toilets and the staff required to securely manage these spaces.

"We will initially open every day from Monday to Sunday on adjusted opening times until we are confident all measures are working.

"Arrangements will change as conditions allow so please check opening times and prices for our latest opening information.

"At this stage the only facilities available will be toilets in the Stableyard near to the Mansion and Gardens. We are planning to open further areas of the park on a phased basis when it is safe to do so, and in line with the lifting of government restrictions.

"Hopefully that will soon include some take-away refreshments and the ‘Housekeeper’s Store’, the estate’s own food shop.

"When visiting the Parkland please follow the latest government guidelines, including social distancing, as well as the following."

Do not visit if you, a member of your family or a person you have had contact with in the last 14 days have any symptoms of the coronavirus

Stay two metres apart from people outside your household

Make sure you follow any instructions on signage and from staff during your visit

Please use bank cards not cash whenever possible

Ensure dogs are on their leads at all times and take all dog waste home for disposal

You can picnic in the parkland but barbecues are not allowed

Please take all litter home with you

When using toilet facilities, adhere to social distancing and handwashing rules

Please do not approach the deer as they are currently calving

"Thank you for your patience and support while we safely re-open parts of Tatton Park. We are sure that visitors understand the need to act responsibly during their visit to help keep everyone safe and Tatton Park open.

"Should any elements of our plans and safety arrangements not prove possible, we will amend the arrangements accordingly. We look forward to welcoming you back soon and appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these difficult times."
