MORE than 80 drivers have been told they could be prosecuted after a fatal crash near Birchwood.
A motorcyclist in his 20s was killed after the accident on the M62 on Wednesday afternoon.
The road was closed while investigators carried out their work.
Now North West Motorway police say 82 drivers breached either a red X or used the hard shoulder while accident investigation work was taking place 'putting Highways England officers in danger'.
A spokesman said: "All the vehicle details are known. A notice of intended prosecution is in the post."
The crash involved a white Transit van, a Red Yamaha R1 motorbike and Heavy Maintenance Plant Machinery on the westbound carriageway.
