POLICE have been called out to Pickmere Lake after receiving reports of large groups of youths gathering this evening, Friday.

Police from Northwich, Knutsford and Warrington attended the beauty spot to disperse the groups.

Alcohol has been seized and police say that some of the youths have travelled from as far away as Warrington.

A tweet by Warrington Police reads: “We are currently at Pickmere lake dealing with a number of young people who are congregating there.

“Please check your children are at home and do not drop your children off at the lake this evening.

“Some are from neighbouring towns including Warrington. Alcohol has been seized.”

Similar statements have also been issued by police in Northwich and Knutsford.

Currently, people in England can only meet one other person from another household in a public place while remaining two metres apart.

Groups of up to six people from different households will be able to meet outside in England, but this will only be permitted from Monday.

This latest incident comes after residents complained about people travelling to the lake and parking their cars in an inconsiderate manner.

Police say they will be targeting the area over the coming weeks and warned drivers not to block the road or park over pavements.
