A TALENTED schoolgirl joined 2,000 dancers from across the UK for a sponsored tapathon on Sunday.

Lauren Jones, a pupil at Middlewich High School, learnt a a tap dance routine inspired by Roy Castle's world record performance outside the BBC TV Centre.

The 12-year-old, from Winsford, raised £650 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer charity's 30th anniversary appeal.

The charity is close to her heart as her grandad Alan Jones died from lung cancer.

Mum Tracey said: "We're very proud of Lauren and her achievements. She loved performing the dance and supporting the charity and was thinking of her grandad too.

"Lauren started ballet and tap lessons when she was three. She absolutely loves dancing."
