A PRIMARY school has been leading efforts to support its community in the coronavirus crisis.
Barnton Community Primary School has set up a community response service, providing shopping, prescriptions and social contact to residents who need it in the village.
The school has also been open to 30 children of key workers, while it has kept in contact with the rest of its youngsters and families on social media, and provided learning materials.
It is a community spirit that has been symbolised by the school's giant rainbow collage, made up of photos sent in from children and the wider community.
Each image includes a word or picture to spread a message of hope, and the photos were put together as a rainbow to raise a smile.
"The rainbow was create to send the community some positivity and we were absolutely inundated with pictures," said Alison Lawson, headteacher.
"It has been a feature when people are on their daily exercise passing by, they have stopped and taken a photo and sent it in to us."
A Just Giving page has been set up to support the community response, with close to £2,000 raised so far.
Keep up to date with the school on its Facebook page.
