TWO people were given oxygen after a chip pan fire broke out at their home.

Firefighters were called to reports of a fire involving a chip pan at property on Townfield Lane, Allostock, near Northwich.

Crews discovered that the fire had been caused by an electrical fryer.

Firefighters, two of whom wore breathing apparatus, isolated the electricity supply to the fryer and took it outside.

They also administered oxygen to two occupants, a man and a woman, before handing them over to the care of paramedics, and used a large fan to clear smoke from the property.

Firefighters were at the scene for around 40 minutes.
