A CHARITY fitness challenge to help you feel good while doing good has been launched to raise funds for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice during lockdown.

People of all ages and fitness levels are invited to get active and raise some much-needed money for the Cheshire hospice during the Fit for Life Mums 12-hour online charity workout on Saturday, May 2.

The virtual event has been organised by Karen Rogers and her team of coaches Jo Knight, Victoria Bagdai and Sarah Walker who usually deliver outdoor fitness training sessions in Hartford and Knutsford.

They're being joined by guest coaches, Rebecca Oldham and Carol Challinor, owner of Strong Body Pilates, to support this special event.

Karen explained: “Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting so many local families in ways that go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS.

“Now, more than ever, with fund-raising events cancelled and charity shops closed, this wonderful charity needs our support.

“So, we’re calling on our local community to do what we know it does best – pull together and support others in their time of need.”

Karen would love as many people as possible to get involved in the challenge and says no specialist equipment or previous experience is required.

She explained: “You just need be connected to Zoom, have a space for working out and access to a few household items to help you through some of the exercises.

“A rucksack or similar bag filled with books, plus a couple of water bottles or tins will work for weights, and if you have a hard floor a mat or some towels will help.”

Individuals and households are invited to take up the challenge, the aim being to get as many people as possible to take part.

Karren added: “We want to raise as much money as possible for St Luke’s and this is a great opportunity to get the whole family involved in something positive and to stay fit and active. It would be brilliant to see kids, parents, grandparents and even pets joining in!”
