KIND-HEARTED Rudheath residents are being praised for their community spirit in the coronavirus pandemic.

Cllr Helen Treeby says there has been a real community effort to look out for the most isolated members of the community to make sure they are not left behind.

And the Conservative member for Rudheath on Cheshire West and Chester Council has been busy helping out, delivering food parcels to residents.

Cllr Treeby said: "It has been heart-warming to see the community working together to care for those in need. There have been several fantastic local initiatives established to protect the most vulnerable.

Northwich Guardian:

"I have been in communication with a number of the different groups, offering my support – not only as their ward councillor but also as a volunteer.

“Our community has a strong sense of collective responsibility – with residents checking in on their neighbours.

"A concerned resident alerted me of a vulnerable resident that lives alone – thanks to the support of PCSO Angela Richardson, we were able to act immediately."

Cllr Treeby, who was elected onto CWAC last May, has been working with the Northwich Isolation Support Group – set up by volunteers from Northwich in Need, Cheshire Without Abuse, Save a Life Cheshire and Northwich Baby Bank.

The group has been delivering food to those stuck at home, isolating in the lockdown, while Cllr Treeby has helped the group secure funding to provide food for care home residents.

Last week, she also worked with the Easter Bunny, as she delivered chocolate eggs to youngsters across Rudheath.

"I thought it would be a nice way to try and lift the spirits of the children and families who are isolating," said Cllr Treeby.

"I know that a lot of children are struggling with not be able to see their friends or enjoy the sunshine – so I wanted to try and spread a little Easter cheer.

"I would like to thank the generous businesses and individuals that donated Easter eggs and helped put a smile on the children’s faces.

"I received several lovely messages and photos from families who received eggs. To know that I made someone smile during these difficult times, really made my day.”
