ONE mother from Leftwich is determined to help the NHS heroes who saved her daughter as they struggle through the current coronavirus crisis.

Stephanie Konca has set up a fundraising appeal to buy essential supplies for frontline staff at Leighton and Alder Hey hospitals.

The hospitals and staff are particularly close to Stephanie’s heart because of their support of her daughter Lillie throughout her life.

Lillie, age 5, has complex medical needs including respiratory, cardiac, and neurological conditions, which put her in the high-risk category.

“Lillie mainly goes to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital when something is wrong, but she has had to go to Leighton Hospital in an emergency,” Stephanie said.

“Both hospitals mean a lot to me, and I have recently been in contact with Lillie’s consultants at the hospitals to know how best to keep her safe.

Northwich Guardian:

“Every key worker deserves our help, but especially those working in hospitals as they are not getting the breaks that they need and deserve

“Staff at both hospitals have given Lillie many chances of life, have saved her life multiple times, and helping them to get some essentials that are needed is a way that we can give something back for helping us over the years.

“It’s not just for the doctors, but for the nurses, cleaners, porters and other people who work in the hospitals, as they have become a second family.

“The love, care, dedication and fight they put in towards patients means the world, and I’d just like to help them during this horrible crisis.”

After speaking to the consultants, Stephanie says the items that NHS staff would appreciate the most are hand sanitizers, moisturiser for hands and face, lip balms, face wipes, drinks and food to eat on the go while working.

Northwich Guardian:

To try and take this worry of their minds, she has started fundraising to buy the items for them, which will be dropped off outside the hospitals for teams to collect, ensuring that social distancing is maintained.

“We know that money is tough for everyone at this moment of crisis, but every £1 raised will go towards helping staff at Alder Hey and Leighton hospitals,” Stephanie added.

“Let’s help to raise as much money as possible so that we can help to provide supplies for them at this vital time.

“Let’s support NHS staff at this hard time, who won’t be getting breaks between saving lives.”
