FIREFIGHTERS in Northwich have thanked the public for offering them food, but have asked for it to go towards NHS staff instead.

The crews based at Northwich Fire Station say that they have been offered snacks and soft drinks by generous members of the public during the current coronavirus pandemic.

However, despite being ‘extremely grateful’ for the offers, they have asked for it to be given to staff working for the National Health Service and other key and essential workers in the town.

In a tweet, Northwich Fire Station said: “We would like to thank all the kind and thoughtful people who've come forward and offered us snacks and soft drinks.

“We're extremely grateful but we would ask that you support our colleagues in the NHS or our town’s key and essential workers instead.”
