A WEST Kirby coach with a wealth of elite sport and Olympic experience is using the coronavirus lockdown to boost the family fitness of the nation.

Neil Parsley co-owns the Underground Training Station (UTS), in New Hall Lane in Hoylake, but also works for Premier League footballers after a career of training gold medal-winning Olympians including Jade Jones.

After setting up the gym a decade ago, Neil was planning to launch a family-friendly YouTube channel – inspired by his regular sessions with children Alfie, Josh and Poppy.

He has launched Family Fitness TV, with Poppy the star of the show, as Neil offers an elite coaching alternative to Joe Wicks for anyone wanting to learn from the best.

He said: “For more than 25 years in the fitness industry I’ve pretty much done all the roles.

“I’ve done everything from being an aerobics instructor to a personal trainer and for the last 15 year I’ve been in elite sport.

“I’ve been to two Olympic Games, was with England Rugby at the 2015 World Cup and more recently with Man City and England Football, as well as 10 years with UTS, which is a family/community gym.

“The plans were in the pipeline anyway but now that everyone is on lockdown, I used having the kids at home to get it started.

“I’ve seen what Joe Wicks has done and he had such a great impact but what I’m offering is not a body coach, but an elite coach, who can give proper coaching like the very best in the UK get.

“Poppy, my daughter, is the star of the show though the boys have been brilliant too. We have fun but we do the same exercises as we would with our young elite athletes in the gym. We can do this indoors and in the garden too. I’ve had so much fun with it and I know my kids have too.

“It’s why I want to roll this out to as many people as possible because while there’s something for everyone to do basic PE, we will give people fun games, coached workouts and novel ideas how to move and stay fit and healthy.”
