A further five people in Wirral with Coronavirus have died, NHS England has confirmed.

The figure was confirmed in a statement released this afternoon which also said another 561 people across the country, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 2,698.

The numbers released by NHS England include deaths at Wirral University Teaching Hospital that occurred on March 28 and 29, two on March 30 and one yesterday.

The statement also confirmed a further 21 recorded deaths in Liverpool.

An NHS spokesperson said: "Patients were aged between 22 and 100 years old.  44 of the 561 patients (aged between 25 and 100 years old) had no known underlying health condition.  

"Their families have been informed."
