DETECTIVES are continuing to appeal for information and have released a CCTV image following two armed robberies at shops in Northwich.

At 7.07pm on Wednesday, March 18, officers received a report of a robbery at a convenience store in Clifton Drive, Leftwich.

A man entered McColls and threatened staff with what is believed to be a firearm before fleeing the scene empty handed.

A short time later police received another report of a man entering The Spar in London Road, Davenham, and taking a quantity of cash.

Officers, supported by armed officers, made a search of the area but the suspect was not located.

Detectives are now issuing CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the two robberies.

Detective Constable Kelly Mitchell said: “We are keen to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV images as we believe he could have vital information which could help our investigation.

“We have been following several lines of enquiry in the local area and are determined to track down the person responsible and bring them to justice.

“I would ask anyone with information or anyone who may recognise the male pictured in the CCTV to come forward.”

The suspect has been described as a white man, around 5ft 8ins tall, in his early 20s, of average build and with blue/grey eyes.

A police spokesman added: "There were a few blond streaks of hair showing from under his hood.

"He was wearing a slim-fitting, grey Northface hooded puffer jacket and grey trousers.

"He was also wearing a woolly black face covering up to the bridge of his nose."
