ALTRINCHAM Little Theatre played their latest production,

Dead Certain, was staged on Sunday, March 15 but, due to coronavirus, had to close for the rest of the week.

Christine Heath, a committee member and vice-president, who joined 46 year ago and who has appeared in 40 plays, was prompting on that night.

She said: “The two people who appeared in it, Victoria Johnson and Chris Burton, didn’t need me.

“They knew their words perfectly, even though it was a wordy play.

“They were superb in their roles as Elizabeth and Michael. They were on top of the production from the beginning.”

The 77-year-old last appeared on stage in a speaking role Horses in Midstream three years ago.

“I find retaining lines difficult now,” she said.

As well as prompting, Christine has assisted with props. sold raffle tickets, coffee and programmes and balanced the takings at the end of the night.

At the age of 16 she joined Hale Players and later performed with Altrincham Methodist players.

Her first play with the-then Club Theatre was Farewell, Farewell, Eugene in which she played a bustling landlady.

“I remember the wigs and costumes were superb”, she said.

She has played three different roles in When We are Married including one of three unwed wives, Clara Soppitt

“I love that play,” she said.

At the end of the 2019 season, she made her final appearance as a drunk in Say who You Are.

Needless to say there were no words.

“The closure of the theatre is sad because it had been fully booked,” she said.

The theatre has been placed in a similar position to several Trafford venues. Altrincham Garrick, Sale Waterside and Stretford Public Hall have also been forced to close.
