BEXTON Primary pupils have been praised by their headteacher for embracing their first week of home learning under the coronavirus lockdown.
The staff sent out fun educational activities for the children to complete at home, including topic-related projects, outdoor investigations and interactive online tasks, as well as practical maths and English activities.
The children also watched a virtual assembly led by headteacher Emily Armstrong which reinforced the importance of staying positive in the current climate.
Mrs Armstrong said: “I’m so incredibly proud of the children.
“They have embraced the home learning activities beautifully this week and I have loved receiving all the photos of the children enjoying themselves despite the tricky circumstances we find ourselves in.
“We have been very clear with families that the educational activities should not be overly onerous and are intended to keep the brain active.
“If the children can look back on this period and remember the good times they had with their family then we’ve achieved what we set out to do.
“I would also like to thank the staff for their incredible support over such a tricky time.
“Their positivity and dedication to keeping a sense of normality for the children has been amazing and I am very lucky to work with such a wonderful team.”
The school is still open for a small group of children whose parents are critical workers, and will continue to provide this service for the foreseeable future.
