LION Salt Works and Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse will be closed to the public from 5pm today, March 20, until further notice, following advice from Public Health England.

Cllr Louise Gittins, leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Our museum service is much-loved by residents and visitors so closing them temporarily has been a hard decision to make.

“Our museum team are planning to make accessible activity templates for families and consider how they can make their collections accessible on-line whilst they can’t be enjoyed in person.

“However, such is the extent of this outbreak and following the advice of Public Health England on social distancing or as I prefer ‘physical distancing’, it is a move we have had to take in order to protect the health of our residents.

“We will monitor the situation and follow Government guidance before reopening and we look forward to the day when we can have our community buildings running as normal.”

Keep on top of the latest advice from CWAC on the council's website.

Grosvenor Museum, Chester History and Heritage, and Stretton Watermill will also be closed.
