TWO men have died after a crash involving three cars in the early hours of Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to Northwich Road in Whitley after the accident at around 12.30am on March 17.

Cheshire Police have now confirmed that the driver of a black Seat Altea Sport travelling in the direction of Stretton, a 24-year-old man from Middlewich, died a short time later.

A 46-year-old man from Warrington, who was driving a grey BMW travelling in the opposite direction, was taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries but was also later pronounced dead.

Their families have been informed.

The driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa which was also involved in the incident, a 17-year-old boy, sustained minor injuries.

Firefighters also attended the scene and worked to free a casualty from one of the vehicles.

Officers are now appealing for information from members of the public over the crash.

A force spokesman said: “Officers from Cheshire Police have launched an investigation following a fatal collision.

“At around 12.30am on Tuesday, March 17, police were called to reports of a collision on the A559 in Whitley involving a black Seat Altea Sport travelling towards Stretton, a grey BMW travelling in the opposite direction along with a black Vauxhall Corsa.

“The driver of the Seat, a 24-year-old man from the Middlewich area, died a short time later.

“A 46-year-old man, the driver of the BMW, who is from the Warrington area, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he passed away.

“The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, a 17-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

“Their next of kin have been informed.

“Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have any dashcam footage of the vehicles before or after the incident to come forward.”
