JOE Duckworth scored four goals in 30 minutes as Winsford Saxons booked their place in the AJ Cooke Trophy final.

Three of those strikes were set up by Kane Ode, who also hit the net twice in the 7-1 semi-final success against Mary Dendy.

Saxons, who head into another semi-final this weekend, will go on to face either Tarporley Vics or Halfway Athletic in the final to be played at Sandbach Community Football Centre on Saturdy, May 6, kick-off 6pm.

Vics and Athletic are scheduled to meet in their showdown on Saturday, April 4.

A good crowd was present to see what Saxons manager Gary Lee Jamieson described as a ‘sensational display’ by his side against Mary Dendy.

“We were dominant and clinical, which is exactly the response we wanted after our below par showing the previous week,” said Jamieson.

The manager praised February player of the month Ode for his selfless display.

Ode now has nine goals and nine assists in seven games since joining the club.

Duckworth, the former Winsford United frontman now on the books at 1874 Northwich opened the scoring after being played through by Ode.

The same pair again linked up for Duckworth’s second and third goals

Duckworth fired in his fourth after brilliant combination play had opened up Mary Dendy again.

Jaymie Roberts, who has been a lynch pin in the Saxons midfield, chipped in to continue his great goal return from midfield.

Dendy hit back after Saxons’ goalkeeper lost his bearings and the ball just crossed the line.

Saxons responded as Ode fired into the top corner for 6-1 at half-time.

In the second half Saxons continued to keep the ball and create chances but Dendy defended a lot deeper,

Ode managed to grab his second, played in by Duckworth, before the pair were replaced after 60 minutes.
