TOM Lineham is determined to help achieve a Warrington Wolves win at Hull FC on Thursday to build on the morale boost felt from the victory against Castleford Tigers.

He feels the sides will come together similarly matched but knows better than anyone in the Wire camp that any victory on Humberside has to be hard earned, usually in front of a highly partisan crowd.

He spent five seasons at the 25,000-capacity KCOM Stadium, where he says he has known there to be extremes in the atmosphere.

“It’s a big stadium and it can be a bit of a morgue. It can be very quiet for such a fantastic stadium,” said the 27-year-old winger, who joined Warrington from Hull for the start of the 2016 campaign.

“But obviously when Hull are playing well it can become a bit of cathedral for the fans with ‘Old Faithful’.

“I loved playing there. They water the pitch before games so you can do some low dives.

“There’s not many left from my time there – just Jamie Shaul, Josh Bowden and Danny Houghton - and I know Dré (André Savelio) from when he was here.

“The staff’s the same but they’re in a very similar situation to us.

“They’ve recruited, they’ve spent a lot of money, there’s a lot of talk about their signings, we were both two wins from five games before the weekend, we both won by drop goals at the weekend.

“Both are big clubs, lots of pressure, there’s a lot of similarities.

“We need to back this up and come away with two points.

“It’s a tough place to go.

“It’s a full day out really, a horrible trip and probably second worst to Catalans.

“We’ve just got to grind it out. It’s all about winning.

“Kicking game, tackle management, carries, yardage, execution, being clinical with opportunities, finishing sets in the right places.

“It could be a slog, it could be set-for-set, it could again be a one-point or two-point game.

“You’ve got to be on the winning side because then you build on the back of that.

“Morale now is through the roof compared to last week, and then we go again.

“But if you lose it’s very demoralising, it’s a tough week for all.

“It’s a results based industry. If you win, nobody’s going to complain and say ‘they’re rubbish but they’re winning’.

“Good teams win ugly so that’s what we need to do.”
