A FIRE which gutted a popular Cheshire wedding venue in January was caused by an electrical fault, firefighters say.
An investigation into the blaze at 19th century mansion Tilstone House, near Tarporley, revealed a 'most probable cause' of an electrical fault.
Firefighters were called to the timber-framed property in Nantwich Road shortly before 8.30pm on Sunday, January 12.
Crews from across Cheshire spent several days tackling the fire, which caused extensive damage to the building.
Firefighters were able to recover a large amount of furniture from the building, and finally left the scene on Thursday, January 16 after handing the building back to the owner.
