THE landlady of a pub which has undergone an extensive refurbishment says the venue aims to return to being "a hub of the community".

The Woodlands on Woodlands Road, Haresfinch has reopened its doors following a revamp.

The pub relaunched on February 20 under landlord and landlady Michael and Diane Lee-Lyons.

It has been given a full internal refurbishment and a new kitchen.

Cask ales have also been added to its offerings. The garden area to the back is to receive further renovations.

The pub held a launch event last Thursday and Diane says it has received a really positive reception from the community.

She said they are focused on making the pub a hub of the community and suitable for use by people of all different ages as well as families.

Landlady Diane Lee-Lyons said: "Everybody has been telling me how great the pub looks and how it is nice to have their local pub back.

"We are so passionate about community pubs. We love the community feel and are firm believers that the pub belongs to the community.

"Pubs will only be here if the community supports them."

Diane added: "The Woodlands was a sports-orientated pub and we have gone to make it for for sports, family and community.

"We are trying to do things in the community so people can come in if they have got ideas for charity events.

"We've said to people we want you to come in and use your local pub.

"We have met so many lovely people who have made us feel so welcome that it is nice for us to offer something back."
