BEBINGTON Dramatic Society will stage the classic thriller Gaslight next week.

Set in Victorian London, it is the tale of Bella Manningham, who is home alone while husband, Jack, is out on the town.

She can’t explain the disappearance of familiar objects, the mysterious footsteps overhead or the ghostly flickering of living room gaslights

Is she losing her mind, as her mother did before her, or are there dark secrets dwelling at home?

On the point of despair, she is visited by Rough, a retired detective, who has been on Manningham’s trail for 20 years.

He manages to convince Bella to go along with his scheme to snare Manningham once and for all.

Nail-biting tension is worked up to what promises to be a frightening crescendo.

The production is at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight from next Wednesday to Saturday (March 4-7).

Performances start 7.30pm.

Tickets from www.gladstonetheatre.org.uk, the box office on 0151 643 8757 or at the door on night.
