Flooding in Newton-le-Willows

Morning commuters were turned away at Peasley Cross Lane due to flooding under the bridge close to Saints' Totally Wicked Stadium.

There were also reports of flooding on Baxters Lane near the bridge close to Morrisons.

Yesterday, the Star reported how a section of College Street, near to Gerard’s Bridge, had been closed again after heavy rain overnight.

There were also reports of localised flooding on Burrows Lane, between Prescot and Eccleston.

Meanwhile, there was a closure in place earlier at the Rainford Bypass (between Pastures Lane and Mossborough Island) on one lane towards Ormskirk due to surface water and debris coming off the fields.
