A MAN who headbutted a police officer has been banned from Warrington town centre by a court order.

Lee Cayzer, from Orford, was handed a criminal behaviour order at Warrington Magistrates Court on Friday, February 14.

Under the order, the 51-year-old will not be allowed to enter the town centre for the next three years.

He is also banned from carrying an open container of alcohol in a public place in Warrington or engaging in anti-social behaviour.

The CBO was imposed after Cayzer, of Cabul Close, was last month convicted of assaulting an emergency services worker and using threatening behaviour.

Cheshire Police were called to Winmarleigh Street on Tuesday, January 21, after receiving reports of two men fighting.

After police arrived on the scene, the defendant drunkenly headbutted one of the officers in the chest.

He admitted the charges and was handed 24 weeks behind bars by district judge Bridget Knight, also being ordered to pay £120 in compensation.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a police van and four police cars in the area at the time of the incident.

A 20-year-old man was also arrested at the scene, but was later released by police.

Cayzer was previously jailed for 18 weeks in summer last year after attacking a homeless man on Bridge Street.
