FIREFIGHTERS spent more than an hour dealing with a plastics fire in a Warmingham field yesterday (Wednesday).
At about 5.15pm firefighters were called to a report of a fire in Hall Lane.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "On arrival the crew discovered it was a case of controlled burning and spoke to the landowner.
"Due to the fact that the fire involved plastics and there was a large amount of smoke in the area firefighters extinguished the fire in the open.
"They set up a water shuttle to get enough water to the area, and a farmer's digger was used to break up a pile of wood involved in the fire. Firefighters were in attendance for an hour and 15 minutes."
