A MOTORWAY sliproad has been closed after a lorry crash.

The incident is affecting the M62 eastbound sliproad merging onto the M60 clockwise at junction 12.

The heavy goods vehicle had lost control and struck the nearside barrier causing a large diesel spillage across both lanes.

Emergency services are on the scene and working with traffic officers to reopen the motorway as soon as it is safe, Highways England has said.

The lorry driver has been checked over by paramedics and is said to have suffered "very minor injuries", North West Motorway Police confirmed.

The incident is causing six-mile long tailbacks and delays of around 25 minutes.

Motorists are being advised to take two possible diversion routes.

The first is to join the M60 anti-clockwise and exit at junction 11 then turn at the roundabout to rejoin the M60 clockwise.

Alternatively drivers can continue on the M62 eastbound and join the M602 to junction 2.

At junction 2 exit and turn at the roundabout to rejoin the M602 and follow the M60 clockwise link road.
